National Pike Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in partnership with Citizens Library, will hold a free genealogy workshop from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the library, 55 S. College St., Washington. The event will include a program titled “An Introduction to Genealogy,” and an overview of library resources will be provided. To register, call the library at 724-222-2400, ext. 222, by Saturday. Parking is free.

Spooktacular Dance will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 14 at Center in the Woods, 130 Woodland Court, Brownsville. Costumes are optional; prizes will be awarded. Admission is $8 per person. Call Maria at 724-938-3554, ext. 103, for tickets.

Winter coat give-away will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 14 at Fort Burd Presbyterian Church, 200 Thornton Road, Brownsville. Gently worn coats, particularly larger sizes, will be accepted through Wednesday. Donations can be dropped from 9 a.m. to noon at the church office. No proof of need is required to receive a coat.

Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will hold a public Star Party Oct. 14 at Mingo Creek County Park Observatory, Mansion Hill Extension, past Shelter 10, Washington. Safe solar observing begins at 5:30 p.m., with night sky observing at 7:30, weather permitting. There is no charge, but donations are accepted to cover operating expenses. Hiller Volunteer Fire Company, 911 First St., will hold a LuLaRoe/Thirty One Bingo from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 14. Advance tickets are $20; tickets at the door are $25. White Oak American Legion Post 701, 2813 Capital St., will sponsor oldies dances from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 14 and 28. There will be music from the ’50s and early ’60s, and a 50/50 will be offered.
