Marine Corps 1st Lt. Andrew W. McCormick, son of Dr. William A. McCormick III and Ann W. McCormick of Washington, graduated from the Advanced Helicopter Multi-Service Pilot Training System, Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Fla. He earned his wings of gold, standard instrument rating and designation as an unrestricted naval aviator. As a member of the HT-18 Vigilant Eagles helicopter training squadron, McCormick flew the TH-57 B/C for a rigorous syllabus that included tactics, instrument and visual navigation, high-speed, low-level navigation, aided and unaided night operations and formation flight. He will report to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303, Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he will fly the AH-1Z. McCormick is a 2009 graduate of Washington High School and a 2013 graduate of Colgate University.
