Pink drink fundraiser benefits MVH walk

In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, six local McDonald’s restaurants will participate in a fundraising program to benefit the Monongahela Valley Hospital/Lois Orange Ducoeur Breast Cancer Walk, to be held Saturday at the Market House, Charleroi.
Throughout October, proceeds from all orders of pink drinks – strawberry milkshakes and strawberry-banana smoothies – will benefit the walk.
For the second year, the campaign is offered at the McDonald’s restaurants in Bentleyville, Brownsville, Charleroi, Monongahela, Belle Vernon and North Belle Vernon.
Owner/operators Joni and Joe Carone are staunch supporters of the cause, as Joni is a breast cancer survivor. They are hoping that this year’s campaign surpasses last year’s, which raised $1,000.
“When it comes to donating to breast cancer charities, you have to do your research as to where the money goes,” Joni Carone said. “We know that money donated to the Ducoeur Walk goes to the treatment of people in the Mon Valley.”
The event supports the prevention, early detection and treatment of breast cancer at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m. For information, visit monvalleyhospital.com.
