Peters Township Parks and Recreation will hold the preschool event “Johnny Appleseed” from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Community Recreation Center in Peterswood Park, for children ages 3-5. Learn about Johnny Appleseed, play games and make a painted apple craft. An apple snack will be provided. Cost is $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Peters Township Chamber of Commerce will hold an after-hours networking event from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at The Health Club at Southpointe, 333 Technology Drive. Knights of Columbus Council 3440 is sponsoring a Coats for Kids drive with the goal of providing coats to children in need in the Avella, Bulger and Burgettstown areas. Coats may be new or gently worn. Donations can be dropped off at the Knights of Columbus pavilion, 2086 Smith Township State Road, Burgettstown, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Nov. 8. Coats will be distributed to those in need that come to the Pavilion from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 11. You may also schedule a donation drop-off.
