Waynesburg University’s Stover Center for Constitutional Studies and Moral Leadership will host Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Gary Glazer at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Alumni Hall. The free lecture will explore the challenges of being a prospective lawyer or public leader in today’s polarizing political climate, and Glazer will stress the importance of civil discourse and respect for the rule of law in the context of ethical challenges that exist in America’s cultural divide.
The Waynesburg Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Waynesburg Lions Club, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The parade will form in the parking lot behind Victoria Square at High and Morgan streets and proceed up High Street from Morgan to Morris streets, ending in the PNC Bank parking lot, where prizes will be awarded and candy distributed to marchers. The parade will follow door-to-door trick or treat in the borough, which will run from 4 to 6 p.m.
Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation, 107 Curry Road, Waynesburg, will host its annual trick-or-treat event at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Mon View Roller Rink, Greensboro, will kick off the 2017-18 season with a “Skate & Dance” set for 7 to 11 p.m. Friday. The skate will be held from 7 to 9 and the dance will run from 9 to 11. Admission for the all-ages event is $8. Every Friday will feature a “Skate & Dance” from 7 to 11 p.m. ($8 per person), and open skating will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays ($5 per person). Rep. Bud Cook invites citizens from the 49th Legislative District to join him at 6 p.m. Thursday for a community forum with representatives from local treatment facilities, churches, support groups and nonprofit organizations regarding the prevention and treatment of opioid addiction. The forum will take place at Belle Vernon Fire Department, 10 Main St., Belle Vernon.
