The city of Washington and Canonsburg Borough recently proclaimed Red Ribbon Week, an initiative by Washington County Young Marines to lead drug-free lives and encourage others to do the same.

Red ribbons were placed throughout the municipalities. A 10-year Ball honored the work of the Young Marines Saturday at American Legion Post 175.

Unit Commander Master Sgt. Donald Bailey, U.S. Marine Corps, retired, and his wife Joyce celebrated 10 years of dedication, teaching core values and arranging community based projects for the participants.
