Volunteer connection

Faith in Action – Make a difference for a neighbor who needs a little help to remain independent. Faith in Action, a program of TRPIL Community Services, has volunteer opportunities throughout Washington County. They include:
• A Washington area woman who needs caregiver relief as she is caring for both parents who are in their 90s. She is asking volunteers to visit with her parents for a few hours per week while she takes a break.
• A McMurray senior gentleman who needs some caregiver relief to go shopping. He is caring for his wife 24/7 and needs a break once a week. A schedule will be worked out.
• An 89-year-old Canons-burg woman who needs rides and assistance to go to the grocery store weekly or bi-weekly.
• A 78-year-old Burgettstown woman who needs help getting to the grocery store and running errands in her area.
Anyone who is interested in helping these older residents or others dealing with a disability remain independent is asked to call Faith in Action at 724-223-5115, ext. 1203. The office is staffed part time, but phone calls will be returned. All volunteers are trained and screened before placement.
