Spaghetti dinner to benefit Valley deacon
A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 1 to benefit deacon Al Poroda in the Madonna Catholic School cafeteria, 731 Chess St., Monongahela.
The meal will consist of spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, drink and dessert. Takeout will be available. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for 5- to 10-year-olds. Children younger than 4 are free.
There will be basket raffles, a 50/50 raffle and a bake sale.
Poroda has myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune neromuscular disease that causes weakness in the skeletal muslces, and the medications that give him strength and offer the possibility of remission cost $7,500 per treatment and are not covered by insurance. All proceeds will benefit Poroda’s health care costs.
To purchase tickets in advance, call St. Damien of Molokai Parish from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets also will be sold at the door.
