DoubleTree by Hilton-Meadow Lands is collecting warm outerwear for Washington County residents. Donate a new or gently used coat, hat, scarf, gloves, mittens or socks, and they will be given to various local shelters and agencies. Donations will be accepted every Friday night in September at Maxwell’s Lounge. Every donation will earn a chance to win a gift certificate for dinner at Maxwell’s Restaurant. Winners will be entered in a drawing to be held Oct. 1 for a complimentary one-night stay with breakfast.
Cornerstone Genealogical Society of Greene County will meet at 7 p.m. today at the log courthouse on Greene Street. Speaker Kayla Patton will discuss the four-wheel drive design that Graysville native Jesse F. Liningood designed for the Ford Model T.
Center in the Woods, 130 Woodland Court, Brownsville, will hold an “Antiques and Collectibles Appraisal Show” Wednesday. The show will feature Kurt Shaw, who has appeared on KDKA’s “Hidden Treasures” and has been an art critic for Trib Total Media for 16 years. Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will hold a Star Party Friday and Saturday at Mingo Creek County Park Observatory, past Shelter 10.
