4-H State Achievement Days

Eight youth from Greene County were among more than 580 4-H members from across Pennsylvania who recently participated in the annual 4-H State Achievement Days at Penn State’s University Park campus. Pennsylvania 4-H’ers who attended the three-day event participated in various contests and activities, including horse and livestock judging, healthy choices – fitness and foods, public speaking, shooting sports, robotics, State Fashion Revue and questing. The Greene County Shotgun Club entered a senior and a junior team in the shotgun competition. Greene County’s senior shotgun team placed second in the state competition, with team member Cameron Cernuska placing first in individual shotgun marksmen. Cernuska’s parents are Steve and Juliann Cernuska of Jefferson. The junior shotgun team placed first in 4-H competition. Members of the team are, front row, from left, Benjamin Archer, son of Dave and Robin Archer of West Finley; D.J. Jones, son of Kenneth and Kimberly Jones of Wind Ridge, who finished seventh in the individual competition; Tristan Cole, son of Dave and Tracy Cole of Waynesburg, who earned first place in the individual junior shotgun competition; and Ryan Grecoe, son of Michael and Bobbie Grecoe of Washington, who placed third individually; and back row, club leaders Wolfe, Sanders and Cole.
