Haunted Mansion Tours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 28. Participants will be led by a tour guide through the four floors of the library, viewing different ghastly spectacles that only appear after dark. Tours are free, but are not recommended for children younger than 8. Family Literacy Department offers free after-school tutoring and homework help for kindergartners through 12th-graders. The literacy department also offers free test preparation for the GED, Civil Service exams, drivers licensing and Life Skills. Also, adults who would like to brush up on their basic reading and math skills can do so at no charge. Lego Club will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 9 and 23. This year, the later program of the month will include a STEM building challenge. The October challenge is “Can your building survive an earthquake?”

Noontime Lunch with Friends will be held Oct. 10. Dr. Robert H. Dodge, retired professor of history at Washington & Jefferson College, will discuss “Afghanistan, America’s Longest War.” The program is free. Lunch will be available afterward for $6.

Timeless Trivia will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 11. Theme is “Famous Faces, Famous Places.”

Dr. Mary Jo Podurski of the Academy for Adolescent Health and author of the Nonnie books will present a program about her books at 6 p.m. Oct. 17.

Rock Painting Party, “Autumn Rocks,” will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18. Co-sponsored by the library and Washington County PA Painted Rocks. The program is free and open to all ages. Rocks, paint, and brushes will be available.

Readers of the Lost Ark Book Club will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 19. “The House of the Spirits” by Isabel Allende will be discussed.

Friends program featuring Dr. Cyril Wecht will begin at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26. The forensic expert will discuss his famous cases. Refreshments and a book signing will follow the program. A limited number of tickets are on sale at CitiBooks for $10. Cost will be $12 at the door. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

History series lecture with Miles Richards will begin at 1 p.m. Oct. 21. The topic will be “Outlaws of Yough.” Call the library to register.

A Tea For All Seasons will begin at 1 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Le Grande Room on South Second Street. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the library and Gary’s Chuck Wagon. There will be a silent auction that will include a selection of antique and vintage tea pots and cups and saucers and a gift basket raffle.
