Avella Area School District has announced kindergarten registration for the 2018-19 school year is scheduled for March 15 and 16. For a child to enter kindergarten, he/she must be five years of age on or before Aug. 31, 2018.

Bring the following items to registration appointments:

• Birth certificate issued by the Bureau of Vital Statistics (hospital certificates will not be accepted)
• Immunization records
• Completed health history form
• Proof of residency, i.e., tax bill, rent receipt or current utility bill
• Court orders: any parent registering a child who requests specific restrictions involving custody or guardian issues must present an official court order defining these restrictions
• Those who are new to the district are asked to register with the township in which residing

During registration time, children will be assessed in the following areas: developmental screening, reading placement screening, speech and vision. Children will also meet with one of the kindergarten teachers. Parents should plan for about 1 ½ to 2 hours for the entire registration process.

All registration sessions will be made by appointment only. Call the school office at 724-356-2294 to schedule. Registration packets can be found on the Avella School District web page at www.avella.k12.pa.us or can be picked up in the elementary office.
