Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center continues its “Dream Bigger Highmark Subscription Series” season by presenting “Sleeping Beauty, Dance Upon A Dream” for six performances, March 16 through 25 in the Main Stage Theater, Midland.
Audiences familiar with the fairy tale will find the same characters, set to an original dance experience created by director and choreographer Jennifer Verba.
“‘Beauty’ is an extravaganza of lavish sets and costumes, brilliant dancing and extraordinary music all coming together to create one of the greatest dramas of all time,” said Verba. “I’m thrilled to bring it to the Lincoln Park stage. It’s an ageless story for all ages to enjoy.”
Longtime Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School dancers Jocelyn Scullion (Princess Aurora), Lexy Bittner (Lilac Fairy) and Jacob Butterfield (Prince) headline a cast of 49 performers. The cast includes dancers from across the region including Avella, Beaver, Baden, McMurray, McKees Rocks, Aliquippa, Sharon, Rochester, East Liverpool, Carnegie, Oakdale, Ambridge, Mars, Cranberry Township, Washington, Burgettstown, New Castle, Industry, Canonsburg, Coraopolis and McKeesport.
“Our eyes are filled with visual images of movement, our ears take in the sumptuous music, and it all works together to create a powerful emotional experience,” said Verba. “I’m so excited to work with the Lincoln Park dancers on this incredible ballet.”
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 16, 17, 23 and 24, and at 2 p.m. March 18 and 25.
