West Greene outstanding students recognized

The West Greene Area Lions Club recently honored the following outstanding students with a dinner, certificate and Amazon gift card.

Ali Goodwin

Ali Goodwin is the daughter of Dave and Michelle Goodwin of Sycamore. Goodwin participates in the ski club, peer mentoring, National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, science club treasurer, aquaponics club, volleyball and softball. Her awards and honors include honor roll, Hometown Heritage Athlete of the Month, homecoming queen, WPIAL All Section for Softball 2023, participated in the WPIAL Championship and was runner-up team for 2021. Goodwin volunteered to raise money for the Humane Society, West Greene Middle School Coach, West Greene Little League Football and the Cinderella Service Project, which helps purchase tickets and bouquets for students to attend the prom. She plans to attend West Virginia University, majoring in elementary education to be an elementary teacher.

Celia Parson

Celia Parson is the daughter of Tim and Tina Parson of Graysville. She belongs to the National Honor Society, calculus club, FFA, floral design, student government and science club. Parson’s accomplishments and awards include being treasurer of the National Honor Society, president of the calculus club, past treasurer of the calculus club, vice president of the class of 2024 and second vice president of the FFA. Parson received the Principal’s Honors Award, Challenge Program Academic Excellence, Math Excellence Award, First Runner Up for Miss Dance of PA and the Die Hard Dance Scholarship. Celia is a teacher/demonstrator for Moshetta’s Performing Arts Center, a volunteer for the Farm Bureau Stand, a Sunday School Teacher and makes Thanksgiving meal deliveries. She plans to attend Duquesne University’s accelerated physical therapy program to obtain a doctorate. She also plans on joining the Dukettes Dance Team while attending college.

Noah Webster

Noah Webster is the son of Jason Webster of Graysville and Brandy Vath of Holbrook. Webster has participated in the marching band for six years and is the current drum major. He is the captain of the cross-country team, in which he is the team captain. This is his third year in track and field. He plays basketball, belongs to the ski club, science club, concert band, choir and is president of the chess club. His community service includes volunteering at the Corner Cupboard Food Bank, Waynesburg Health and Rehabilitation and Evergreen Assisted Living. Webster plans to attend Waynesburg University with a pre-med/biology major.

Abigail Whipkey

Abigail Whipkey is the daughter of Joe and Stacey Whipkey of Graysville. Whipkey is active in clubs and has received various awards. She is the secretary of the science club and belongs to the National Honor Society, aquaponics club and peer mentoring. She is a four-year cheer letterman and two-year cheer captain. Whipkey has received the Challenge Program Community Service Award and is on the honor roll. She frequently volunteers at Crystal’s Children Center. Whipkey’s future plans include attending a four-year college majoring in forensic psychology.
