Laurel Homet, a physical therapist at WHS-Greene, works with a patient, Melvin, in the rehab unit at the hospital.

Laurel Homet is a physical therapist at Washington Health System WHS-Greene, where she assists patients through the Swing Bed Program. 

The transitional program, a combination of rehabilitation therapy, nursing and medical care, allows patients some extra time to heal, rehabilitate and recover before returning home.

A 1985 graduate of Wellsboro High School, she completed her degree in physical therapy at the University of Pittsburgh.

She and her husband, Todd, have been married for 29 years and are the parents of two sons, Kyle and Cole.

Homet enjoys traveling, watching her sons wrestle, and spending time with her friends.

Kyle is a junior at Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C., where he is majoring in business management and is the captain of the wrestling team. Cole is a junior at Waynesburg High School, where he is the captain of the wrestling team, which placed second in the PIAA state dual team championship, and a member of Quest School of Wrestling in Washington.

The family has a cat named Daisy.

Q. What do you love about your current job?

A. I love to work with the patients and other staff members here at Greene. We all work together well as a team.

Q. What is the best memory from your childhood?

A. Band trips to Florida.

Q. What type of toppings do you like on your pizza?

A. Pepperoni and banana peppers.

Q. What do you want to do when you retire?

A. Move down South and live near a lake, walk every day and kayak. Maybe even take up golf.

Q. If you were given a million dollars today, what would be the first thing you would spend it on?

A. First I would tithe my 10% to God and then I would buy my retirement home.

Q. What do you want the public to know about COVID 19?

A. During COVID-19 it has been necessary to have an increased awareness of precautions and increased frequency of cleaning equipment and surroundings (at WHS). WHS has taken an active role on informing staff, patients and their families on current policies and procedures to keep everyone as safe as possible.
