Penn Highlands Mon Valley is providing pediatric vaccine appointments beginning Tuesday, Nov. 9, during the regularly scheduled vaccine clinics.

The move comes after the CDC on Tuesday gave the green light for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children between the ages of 5 and 11.

Parents or guardians can schedule appointments for 5- to 11-year-olds by visiting phhealthcare.org/monvalley, or calling the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Vaccine Hotline at 724-258-1890.

Additionally, CVS Pharmacy will provide the COVID-19 pediatric vaccine starting on Sunday, Nov. 7

Parental or legal guardian consent is required, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Pfizerpediatric vaccine is one-third of the adult dose and will be available at nearly 1,700 CVS Pharmacy locations in 46 states, Puerto Rico and Washington D.C.

The Pfizer vaccine is the only FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine for children 5-11.

To schedule an appointment, visit CVS.com or check the CVS App. The scheduling tool willdisplay appointments at CVS Pharmacy locations that have the Pfizer pediatric vaccine once the patient’s age is provided.

It’s recommended that children wear clothing that allows easy access to their arms, such as a short sleeve shirt.
