O-R launches 2018 Fish Fry Map and contest
The Lenten season is upon us, and that means churches, fire halls and other organizations across Southwestern Pennsylvania are firing up the fryers for fish fries.
As we have done in the past, the Observer-Reporter has put together a map and list of fish fries in our area. Each entry includes location, dates and times of the fish fry, and how to get there. You can view the map here.
We are also excited to launch a new and improved best fish fry contest. This year, we are allowing our readers to tell us their favorite place to get fish. Nominate your favorite fish fries in three categories – restaurants, churches, and fire hall/other organization – and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a $50 gift card just for submitting.
Nominations will be accepted February 14th through March 9th. After that time, we’ll take the top five nominations in each category and place them on a ballot, so make sure you log in multiple times to nominate your favorite fish fries. Then, you can vote from the top five fish fries from each category between March 10th and April 1st.
After that, we’ll crown the best fish fries in each category, with a cash donation for the top church and top fire hall/other organization, and the top restaurant will receive a special advertising package. Plus, the winners in each category get bragging rights as the best fish fry in our area.
Fish fries are a special tradition in Southwestern Pennsylvania, so check out our map to find your favorites, and help us choose the best in the area.
