Firefighters work to extinguish a blaze at a building in Union Township earlier this month.

No one was injured when a fire destroyed a house Monday that was under construction at 5100 Union Street in Union Township. Monongahela police said passersby rescued two goats from the building before it collapsed. The fire began at 3:45 p.m., police said. The home was owned by the Costa family, police said. Finleyville and Valley Inn fire departments responded to the scene.
