Police have in custody the man they allege set fire to Main Street Tavern in Monongahela early Friday morning.
On Friday, Monongahela City Police arrested Hunter McMahon, 29, of Monongahela, on five counts, including aggravated assault and arson, according to the criminal complaint.
The Monongahela Fire Department was called to Main Street Tavern along West Main Street at 6:11 a.m. Friday, assistant fire Chief Aaron Benney told the Observer-Reporter that day. Crews had just returned to the fire station after putting out a dumpster fire on the same block, according to Washington County 911.
McMahon is also being investigated for that dumpster fire, according to police.
McMahon appeared before Magisterial District Judge Joshua P. Kanalis Friday afternoon. He is being held in Washington County Prison on a $250,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, before Magisterial District Judge Mark Wilson.
