Washington County Historical Society is bringing back the “Vignettes” that have been so popular as part of its annual Candlelight Tours, which will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at the LeMoyne House in Washington.
Visitors also will have the opportunity to view the time capsule that was placed in the cornerstone of the city’s old town hall.
The Martha Washington Garden Club decorated the home’s exterior of the home and the parlor.
The tour will offer visitors a glimpse at how Christmas was celebrated in Washington County during the mid 1800s. Visit with the ladies of the LeMoyne household as they discuss the hot-button issues of the day, such as women’s rights and the social scene in the city of Washington.
In 1869, President Ulysses S. Grant visited the city to lay the cornerstone of the new town hall.
Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students. Tickets for tours of the Bradhouse House and LeMoyne House are $8 for adults and $6 for children. For more information, call the Washington County Historical Society at 724-225-6740.
