Q. In January, HBO introduced “Luck,” starring Dustin Hoffman. I heard they had filmed at least a second season but halted production due to animal rights activists. Do they plan on showing at least the second season? – Douglas Martin, Hutchinson Island, Fla.

A. There actually isn’t any future for the show and that includes what was to have been the show’s second season. After two horses’ deaths during the making of the first season, a third died early in production on the next planned set of episodes … and while animal rights groups certainly voiced concerns, it reportedly was HBO’s own decision to terminate the series, in conjunction with executive producers David Milch and Michael Mann.

Footage filmed for Season 2 will never be seen. The existing season recently became available on home video.

Q. What is the reason Jennifer Esposito is leaving as Danny’s partner on “Blue Bloods”? – Mark Beyer, West Palm Beach, Fla.

A.The network released a statement that said the actress could only work on “a very limited part-time schedule,” thus her police detective character, Jackie, was put on a leave of absence on the show.

Esposito then took to Twitter, maintaining the network wasn’t telling the whole story. She has celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that can cause fatigue and she claims CBS placed her on unpaid leave and is preventing her from working on any other series that airs at the same time, calling it “shameful behavior.”
