The 2012 Three Rivers Film Festival, presented by Pittsburgh Filmmakers and Dollar Bank, opens today and runs through Nov. 17. Celebrating 31 years, it is the oldest film festival in the region. It features more than 55 films, which will be shown at the Harris Theater, the Melwood Screening Room, and the Regent Square Theater. An opening reception will begin at 7:30 p.m. today at each location.The festival concludes Nov. 17 at Regent Square Theater, with Boston’s Alloy Orchestra and the Pittsburgh premiere of The Overcoat, a Soviet silent masterpiece.
