Citizens Library announces speakers

Citizens Library in Washington has announced its speakers for Lunch with Friends, which is held at noon in the lower level of the library. A catered lunch after the program is $5.

Speakers include:

Sept. 10 – Jeanne Marie Laskas, author of “Hidden America”;

Oct. 8 – Marcia Ferguson, author of “North of What’s Supposed To Be”;

Nov. 12 – Patricia Harman, author of “The Midwife of Hope River”;

Dec. 17 – Adam Sutch on Dulcimer;

Jan. 14 – Tom Northrop, publisher of the Observer-Reporter, book review, to be announced;

Feb. 18 – Laura Engel, Jane Austen expert;

March 11 – Greg Kenney as Jackie Robinson;

April 8 – Dr. James McMurtry Longo, author of “From Classroom to the White House: The Presidents and First Ladies as Students and Teachers”;

May 13 – Jonathan A. Gottschall, author of “The Storytelling Animal: How Stories Make Us Human.”

Speakers for Evening with Friends, which begins at 6:30 p.m., include:

Sept. 24 – National Aviary, penguins program;

Oct. 29 – Alan Irvine, storyteller, scary Halloween stories;

Nov. 19 – Eric Magliocca, author of “The Red Triangle”;

Jan. 28 – Chuck Finder, author of “The Steeler Encyclopedia”;

Feb. 4 – Stan Gordon, UFO expert;

March 25 – Thom O’Schell, Master Gardener;

April 25 (7 p.m.) – Friends annual meeting with Jack Bogut, raconteur.
