Award-winning Canonsburg Middle School symphonic band will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at the school.

The premiere of “Postcard from Pittsburgh,” a work by Canadian composer Robert Buckley, will be featured. Buckley will conduct the piece at the concert. He has composed works for Cirque du Soleil, Michael Bublé, Celine Dion, the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and the 1994 Commonwealth Games.

The band recently was honored with a superior rating at the Grand National Adjudicators Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Additionally, the band’s percussion section was named the Outstanding Percussion Section at the festival.

The symphonic band competed against music conservatories and magnet schools throughout the South, Midwest and Southwest. The musicians were judged by current and former college and military music professionals.
