Charleroi Community Day set for July 3

Plans have been finalized for Charleroi’s annual Community Day and fireworks celebration July 3.
New for this year are a “Salute to First Responders Parade,” a children’s area and all-day music.
J.K. Tener Library will operate the children’s area in the Market House from noon to 8 p.m. Activities include a bounce house, face-painting, magic and crafts. Kids can decorate bikes in a patriotic theme and ride in the parade.
Magic City Square will showcase entertainment. Nashville recording artists The Hobbs Sisters will play from noon until 2 p.m. Polka band Mon Valley Push will be onstage from 3 to 6 p.m. The Mon Valley Superstars and local dancers will perform from 6:30 7:30 p.m. Country band Saddle Up will play from 7:30 until 9:45 p.m..
Car Cruise areas will be reserved from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in three downtown parking lots and on Fifth Street. To reserve a lot, car clubs can call 724-483-6011.
Fireworks will take place at 9:45 p.m. by VFI Fireworks Inc. followed by a beach party from 10 to 11 p.m.
Food booths will be available along Bosson Way in Chamber Plaza. Nonprofit groups from within Charleroi Area School District wishing to operate food booths are being offered free space. Commercial vendor space also is available. For information, call 724-483-6011 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
