The West Alexander Fair, in conjunction with West Alexander Volunteer Fire Department, will hold its first “Scare at the Fair” walk-through haunted house from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Halloween night at the West Alexander Fairgrounds, 116 Route 40 West. Ticket sales end at 10 p.m. Admission is $10. Children must at least 8 years old to participate alone. “Scare Care” with crafts and entertainment is available for children 7 and younger. Boo at the Zoo, an annual fundraiser at the Oglebay Good Zoo, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Oct. 27, with an early opening Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Admission is $7.25 for nonmembers and $5.25 for members. Boo admission is reduced by $1 when purchased in advance in the zoo office between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily.

Boo at the Zoo also features “Spooky Express,” a Halloween-themed train ride. Cost is $2.50, and tickets can be purchased at the zoo’s train station.

Nemacolin Castle in Brownsville will host ghost tours from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, plus Oct. 31 and Nov. 1-3.

Ghost legend and paranormal stories will be told by tour guides in the darkened rooms and hallways of the castle.

Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.

Mother Earth Farm, 610 Apple Hill Road, Waynesburg, is celebrating the fall season with a haunted orchard and old-fashioned hayrides from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Cost is $5 per person and includes the haunted orchard and hayride. Guests also can choose to visit the haunted barn for $5 or a combined ticket for $8. Children younger than 3 are free.

In addition, from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sundays, all-age hayrides will be given.

Scaremare 2013 will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 176 Main St., Monongahela.

Ticket office opens at 6 p.m. Cost is $15 per person, or $12 with a coupon that can be obtained online at www.scaremare.net. Rates of $10 per person for groups of 10 or more also are available. Call 412-444-9500 to register.

All proceeds will benefit area charities, including Teen Quest and missionaries in Ecuador and the Philippines. Teen Quest is a ranch in Somerset that reaches teens through year-round camps and events.

Monongahela Area Historical Society will hold a masquerade ball at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. The ball will include a candlelight ghost walk tour.
