Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteers for its haunted trail event, which will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Oct. 3 and 4. Those in middle school and older are invited to volunteer to be a storyteller and lead groups along the Arrowhead Trail in Peterswood Park. The first volunteer meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Recreation Center. Call Lisa Whittaker, recreation supervisor, at 724-942-5000 for more information or to register.

Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a program that involves searching for musical insects, including crickets, katydids and grasshoppers, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Shelter 6 in Mingo Creek County Park. Long pants, enclosed shoes and long-sleeve shirts are recommended. There is no fee, but registration is required by calling the recreation office at 724-228-6867.
