The Greater Brownsville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold at its annual fireworks celebration today at Patsy Hillman Park in Luzerne Township.
Festivities get under way at 4:45 p.m. with the raising of the flag by local Scout troops. Afterward, musical entertainment will be provided by Brownsville Area High School and the Mon Valley Community Band. Fireworks will follow.
The chamber will provide free face-painting and a candy scramble for youngsters, and the Rotary Club will host a bounce house. Rotarians also will sell patriotic trinkets to raise money to support its community programs, and the concession stand will be open.
The Whiskey Rebellion 5K kicks off the festivities at 7:45 a.m. Friday, followed by the parade at 10 in downtown Canonsburg.
Free town activities include music and a family swim party.
Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. at Canon-McMillan Stadium.
Charleroi Borough will hold its annual Community Day and fireworks today. There will be games, crafts, bounce house, face-painting and entertainment from noon to 8 p.m. at the Market House.
A kids fishing clinic for 8- to 14-year-olds will begin at 11 a.m. at Trustees Park. From noon to 3 p.m., a fishing contest will be held, and prizes will be awarded.
Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m., followed by a beach party at Magic City Square. A charity duck race, food booths, car cruise and first responders and patriotic bike parade also are being planned.
Fredericktown Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its ninth annual Fireworks and Riverfest at 2 p.m. Saturday along the river in a Fredericktown.
Those who attend should bring their own chairs. Festivities will be held as follows:
• Shriner clowns – 2:30 to 4 p.m.
• Hollow Lines Band, featuring three students from the Bethlehem-Center School District – 3 to 4:30 p.m.
• Barnyard petting zoo and pony rides – 5 to 8 p.m.
• Flashback Band – 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
• Fireworks – 9:30 p.m.
There also will be food booths, craft vendors and face-painting for children.

The Meadows Casino will host the Greater Washington County Fourth of July Festival from noon to dusk Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
In addition, the Greater Washington County Food Bank is accepting donations. Guests will receive $1 of slot FreePlay for every pound of food donated, up to 10 pounds.
Each day will feature food, vendor booths, kids zone and beer garden.
On Friday, there will be live music throughout the day featuring Gashouse Annie and the Michael Christopher Band, plus fireworks at night.
On Saturday, the Todd Jones Band and Backwoods Playboys will perform throughout the day, with the Oak Ridge Boys taking the stage at 8 p.m. Emergency service education will feature Life Flight, a local fire truck, ambulance and K-9 unit.
A charity corn-hole tournament will begin at noon, and a ring-girl competition for the July 26 boxing event will be held from 3 to 4 p.m.
Sunday’s entertainment will feature LocaL and Abilene. There also will be emergency service education throughout the day, and a Silver Star Hot Dog eating contest at 2:30 p.m.

Oglebay will celebrate Independence Day today with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Schenk Lake.
Festivities also will include Fort Henry re-enactors from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wagon Shed Shelter and an ice-carving demonstration by Chris Kefauver from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Wagon Shed.
Picnic-style food service will be available at Schenk Lake from 5 to 9 p.m., and the De’ja’vu Band will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

• East Finley – Independence Day picnic begins at noon Saturday at East Finley Park. Fireworks will begin at dusk.
• McDonald – dusk today at Heritage Park.
• Monongahela – Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Monongahela Aquatorium, with the fireworks beginning at 9:45 p.m. Rain date is Saturday.
• South Fayette – 9:45 p.m. today at El-Rancho soccer fields, with the best viewing from the Millers Run Road area. The public is not permitted at the soccer fields during the fireworks.
• Washington – dusk Friday at Twist fields at Washington Park.
• Waynesburg – dusk Friday at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
