Buffalo Grange will hold its annual picnic at 6 p.m. Monday. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided. Bring a covered dish.

Butterfly walk will begin at 1 p.m. Aug. 2 at Mingo Creek County Park, near shelter 1. Reservations are required by calling the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation at 724-228-6867. A limited number of butterfly nets and jars will be available. There is no fee, and participants should dress for light hiking, bring a bottle of water and wear a hat.

Butterfly Scramble for 3- to 5-year-olds will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 5 and 6 at Mingo Creek County Park, shelter 1. Children will learn about the life cycle and proper ways to collect and observe butterflies. Collection nets will be provided. Registration is required by calling the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation at 724-228-6867. Cost is $1 per child, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Charleroi Area Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at SPHS Riverside Place Senior Center, Chamber Plaza. Terry A. Necciai will discuss “Italian-Americans of the Monongahela Valley.” Necciai, a native of Monongahela, is a licensed architect who specializes in historic preservation, business district revitalization and other projects related to local history and heritage topics.
