Army Command Sgt. Major Richard E. Castelveter will be guest speaker during a ceremony at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, at 11 a.m. May 25. In addition, ceremonial Taps will be played with a rifle salute by the Marine Corps League, with musical selections by the Canon-McMillan High School band and Kate Matthews. A ceremonial wreath will be placed in honor of all POWs/MIAs. For more information, call 724-746-4363. The ceremony is expected to last about 50 minutes.

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold a memorial service for Thomas and Wilson N. Paxton, brothers from Canonsburg who served during the Civil War, at 10 a.m. May 24 at Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. For more information, call Carl Bowers at 724-809-0517.

Eldersville
A Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 8:30 a.m. May 26 at the Veterans Memorial Site in Eldersville. Refreshments will be served afterward in the White Church. If it rains, the ceremony will be held in the church.

May 26
The service will begin at 9:45 a.m. at the Legion, with Cmdr. Dave Kelley presiding. A wreath will be placed at the monument in front of the Legion, and Washington City Councilman Ken Westcott will be guest speaker. After his speech, the firing squad and honor guard will go to Veterans Circle at Washington Cemetery, then move to the steps of the Washington County Courthouse for a service and placing of two wreaths. The firing squad and honor guard will then proceed to Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Beth Israel Cemetery and the Polish Cemetery, where they will salute the honored dead.
