NEW YORK (AP) – The president and CEO of the Staten Island Museum for the past 12 years has died.

The museum says 69-year-old Elizabeth Egbert died Saturday after battling multiple myeloma.

Egbert was an artist, sculptor and community activist. Her work has been exhibited at various museums, including The American Craft Museum and the Socrates Sculpture Park, both in New York City.

Her public art projects have appeared in Fairmont Park in Philadelphia and Mesa, Arizona, among other venues.

She also taught art at Hunter College, the College of the Arts in Philadelphia and New York University.

A memorial service is set for 3 p.m. on Sept. 21 at the Music Hall at Snug Harbor Cultural Center.
