Library Card Sign-up Month is being celebrated in September at the library.
Book-A-Librarian is a new service being offered to cardholders at the library. Librarians will schedule a half-hour session to address a variety of topics, including research questions, technology assistance, downloading eBooks and résumé/job search assistance. Call the library to book a librarian.
Teddy Bear Picnic for 2- to 6-year-olds will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12. There will be a picnic on the lawn, crafts and other activities. Register in the Children’s Department.
Free S.A.T. preparation classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12, 19 and 26, and will cover math, language arts and writing. Bring a scientific calculator, if possible, and a bagged lunch. Registration is required by calling the library.

Your Life Your Words: How to Write a Memoir will be presented by Ann K. Howley, author of the award-winning “Confessions of a Do-Gooder Gone Bad,” a humorous coming-of-age memoir, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 23 in the public meeting room. Howley will explain what every memoir writer needs to know, tips on how to get started and practical advice on publishing options.
Teen Gaming Club for sixth- through 12th-graders will be meet Sept. 29. There will be tabletop, board and video games.
Book of the month in the Children’s Department is “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” a junior novelization of the Disney movie. The random-drawing contest is open to anyone 12 and younger. The winning entry will be drawn Sept. 30.
Summer Reading Club has ended. Any unclaimed records by the end of September will be discarded.

Of Dice and Men – Roleplaying Games begin at 2 p.m. Saturdays. There are tabletop gaming sessions and a variety of games, most notably Dungeons & Dragons and Call of Cthulhu. Teens and adults are welcome, and newcomers are encouraged to come an hour early to set up characters for play.
Book sale is ongoing, and new titles are being added all the time. Cost is $5 per bag.
Canon-McMillan students are able to earn Accelerated Reading points at the library. There is a computer in the Children’s Department reserved exclusively for testing.
