Winter music festival set in Morgantown

The Gardner Winter Music Festival will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 27 and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Feb. 28 at South Middle School in Morgantown, W.Va.
The festival includes on-stage performances, workshops, informal jams and a square dance. Performances and workshops feature old-time acoustic instruments, such as lap and hammered dulcimers, fiddles, guitars, mandolins and banjos.
Admission is $3 on Feb. 27 and $5 on Feb. 28. Admission is free for musicians with an instrument.
This year’s featured group is the Appalachian Ensemble, which will perform from 6:30 to 7:30 Feb. 28. The group of students from Davis & Elkins College plays old-time music and dance from the Appalachian region. Also scheduled to perform are Logantown, the WVU Old Time Band, the WVU Bluegrass Band and Rachel Eddy and the Rock Farmers.
Workshops will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 28 and are free to those who attend the festival. Workshops are open to all performance levels and for all of the old-time instruments. Instruments will be available to borrow for some of the workshops.
