NOVELTY, Ohio (AP) — A dozen dogs and three people were in need of rescue by fire crews after severe storms flooded a northeast Ohio kennel.
The Russell Township Fire Department came to the aid of Copaw Caban Kennel in Novelty at about 4 p.m. Tuesday after the kennel was hit by rising waters from nearby Silver Creek.
The staff and their canine companions were transported to dry land by boats where the pet owners were notified for pick up. The Hillcrest Technical Rescue Team was on hand to assist fire crews.
Tuesday’s storms caused flooding and damage in other parts of Geauga County, where more than 600 FirstEnergy customers remain without power.
A flood advisory remains in effect for the southern part of the county.
