Jesuit university rescinds 2012 degree awarded to Bill Cosby

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A Jesuit Catholic university in San Francisco is the latest college to revoke an honorary degree awarded to disgraced comedian Bill Cosby.
The University of San Francisco Board of Trustees voted to rescind the 2012 degree, saying Cosby acknowledged behavior inconsistent with criteria for a USF honorary degree. University President Rev. Paul J. Fitzgerald, S.J., sent a campuswide message Wednesday.
Cosby admitted to having extramarital relationships with several women, including some who now accuse him of sexual assault. He’s never been charged with a crime.
The USF board voted Friday, the same day Brown University’s board revoked the doctorate of humane letters it granted Cosby in 1985. Fordham and Marquette universities also rescinded their degrees.
A spokesman for Cosby could not be reached immediately for comment.
