Teen Advisory Group will hold an After-After Hours from 8 to 10 p.m. March 11 for a Decade Dance. Dance tunes from the past six decades will be presented by a disc jockey. The dance is open to 13- to 18-year-olds. Call the library to register. Admission is $2 at the door.

Movie Night at Your Library will begin at 5:45 p.m. March 30. Ron Howard’s “In The Heart Of The Sea,” which recounts a New England whaling ship’s sinking by a giant whale in 1820, will be shown. Reservations are required.

Paint-N-Sip event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 31. The library will provide nonalcoholic beverages, including coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and light refreshments. The project will be acrylic on canvas. Cost for materials is $35. Tickets must be purchased from the library by March 23. Contact the library for more information.

The library is holding a Poetry Competition in advance of National Poetry Month, which will be celebrated in April. Greene County residents can submit original poems to the library in March. The competition will be broken down into the following categories: kindergarten through second grade; third through fifth grade; sixth through eighth grade; ninth through 12th grade; and adults. All entries must be submitted by April 1. First-place prizes will be awarded in each age category, and winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. April 14 during the library’s Poetry Reading & Award Ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.

State and federal tax forms are available at the library. The forms displayed are determined by the supply from the federal and state governments. The IRS will provide listings for tax-help lines if more assistance is needed; library staff is not trained to offer tax advice.

Tai Chi classes are held at 11 a.m. every Thursday. Cost is $10 per person per session. No payment is required for missed classes. The library receives half of the proceeds from each session.

The library is holding a food drive through March to benefit the Greater Washington County Food Bank. A monetary prize will be awarded to the library that collects the most pounds of food.

Wee Build Construction Zone for children 2 and older will be open for free play from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Building materials will include magna tiles, blocks, bridges and up to 16 other building, connecting and engineering kits. The materials were received from the Office of Commonwealth Libraries to provide building materials for young children with an adult through the Cruise into Kindergarten program grant. The library is collecting items on behalf of the Washington County Farm Bureau for the Greater Washington County Food Bank through March 31. Items include flour, sugar, sweetener, canned and dried soups, hot and cold cereals, oatmeal, cake mixes, instant pudding, condiments, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, sauces, canned/dried meats and seafood, dried fruits and vegetables, nonfat dried milk, cleaning supplies, detergent, paper products and personal hygiene items.

The library is seeking area residents to serve on its board of trustees. Candidates should be civic-minded with an interest in preserving the future of the library, be library users, be prepared to attend monthly board meetings, be involved in other community activities and be willing to volunteer some extra time to help with fundraising and community outreach. Those who are interested should contact the library.
