Children’s author/illustrator and Washington native Anastasia Higginbotham will discuss her latest book, “Death is Stupid,” at noon Saturday at Barnes & Noble Book Store at South Hills Village.

Danielle Andy Belusko, owner of Danielle Andy Belusko Cremation and Funeral Care in Peters Township, will join Higginbotham.

“Death is Stupid” is the second book in Higginbotham’s series, Ordinary Terrible Things, published by The Feminist Press. The picture books tackle common childhood experiences that can be traumatic and confusing; among them, divorce, bullying and sexual abuse.

While Higginbotham was writing the book, Belusko, a lifelong friend, shared with Higginbotham many common explanations she hears adults tell children, including, “Don’t worry, Grandpa’s only sleeping,” “Grandma’s gone away,” or “She’s in a better place.”

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. For more information, call 412-835-0379.
