Army Lt. Col. Michael A. Avolio has graduated from the Army Inspector General Course at Fort Belvoir, Fairfax, Va. IG officers are trained to conduct inquiries, investigations and program reviews that deter, detect, prevent and eradicate fraud, waste, abuse and misconduct. Students received classroom training in policies and procedures, and performed practical exercises to process sample inspection cases under the supervision of experienced faculty inspectors general. Avolio is an inspector general assigned to the 94th Training Division at Fort Lee, Va. The lieutenant colonel has served in the military for 23 years. He is the son of Virginiea Hagies of Pittsburgh and graduated in 1993 from California University of Pennsylvania.
