Cadet Samuel John Kainz, son of Tanya Kainz and Anthony Kainz of Finleyville, completed cadet basic training at the U.S. Military Academy. Kainz entered West Point on July 1. Kainz graduated from Ringgold High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Brenden A. Kaufman has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Kaufman is a 2011 graduate of Burgettstown High School, and his parents are Paul and Amy Kaufman of Burgettstown.
