Mr. D. Carey “Murf” and Mrs. Carolyn (Polen) Polan of Washington celebrated 60 years of marriage in August.

The couple were married August 22, 1953, in Rogersville Christian Church with the Rev. John Thompson officiating. They met at Waynesburg College in 1950, where they were seated alphabetically in history class.

Mr. and Mrs. Polan have two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Lénee) Giuliano of Edinburg and Mrs. Ronald (Christy) Black of Washington. They have four grandchildren.

Mr. Polan served as the executive director of the local Youth for Christ/Campus Life organization for 45 years before retiring.

Mrs. Polan was a teacher in the Trinity Area School District from 1966 to 1986.

Both regularly attend Central Assembly of God in Houston.
