Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Ryan P. Jones graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. Jones is a 2013 graduate of Peters Township High School, and his parents are Bill and Sharon Jones of McMurray.
Lt. j.g. Joseph Sonson was recently commissioned an officer in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General Corps. Sonson attended officer development and graduated from the Naval Justice School in Newport, R.I., where he received the Trial Advocacy Award for excellence. Sonson left his position as a prosecutor in the homicide/major crimes division of the state attorney’s office in Jacksonville, Fla. He is licensed to practice law in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the state of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. His parents are Robert Sonson and Paula and William Forgie, all of Washington.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Andrew Shrump, an aviation electrician’s mate, has returned to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Wash., after serving a four-month detachment from his squadron at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan. Shrump is a 2006 Pennsylvania Homeschoolers Accreditation Agency graduate, and his parents are Chuck and Debby Shrump of Washington.
Alyssa Shrump, an aviation ordnanceman at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va., recently completed a two-week training operation aboard the USS Ronald Reagan and was promoted to petty officer third class. Shrump is a 2011 Pennsylvania Homeschoolers Accreditation Agency graduate, and her parents are Chuck and Debby Shrump of Washington.
