Army Reserve Pvt. Ryan M. Cooley, son of Sherri Kinley of Brave, has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Cooley is a 2013 graduate of Waynesburg Central High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Gregory A. Engle graduated with honors from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012 from Penn State University. His parents are Janet and Douglas Engle of Factoryville, and his grandmother is Mary White of Canonsburg.

Air Force Airman Rachel L. Ferry graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. Ferry is a 2013 graduate of California Area High School, and her parents are Alan and Sandra Ferry of Coal Center.

Chief Petty Officer Christopher McCoy was promoted to chief warrant officer 2, engineering specialty, in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves in a ceremony Feb. 1 at USCG Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia. McCoy was assigned to USCG Base New Orleans, LA Engineering Department. McCoy’s parents are Rosalie McCoy of Canonsburg and the late John “Buck” McCoy.
