Filby – 50 years
James W. Filby Jr. and Donna M. Filby of Houston celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a surprise card shower organized by their children. They also celebrated by visiting their family in Alaska in May and will visit their family in France in the fall, with whom they will travel to the French Alps.
Mr. and Mrs. Filby were married September 11, 1965, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Canonsburg, with the late James W. Matties officiating.
Their children are James John (Jeannine) Filby of Saint Jacques, France, Donna Jean (Kevin) Spence of Soldotna, Alaska, and John Herbert (Michelle) Filby of Houston.
Their grandchildren are twins Jacqueline and Julien, Jean-Baptiste, Julie, Jeromine and Jerome Filby; Nathan, Caleb and Rachel Spence; and Tyler, Austin and Joelle Filby.
Mr. Filby is a retired diesel mechanic with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and enjoys grilling and cooking over open fires, and Mrs. Filby is a homemaker.
Both enjoy cookouts and family dinners at their son’s home in Houston, taking photographs, attending St. Paul’s Church, biking, traveling in their RV and spending time and keeping in touch with their grandchildren.
