Posner – 50 years
David and Marilyn Ackerman Posner of East Washington celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently with a family party at Omni Bedford Springs Resort.
Mr. and Mrs. Posner were married August 14, 1966, at the former Ohav Sholom Synagogue in Donora.
Their children are Jennifer (David) Napier of Glencoe, Ill., and Morton (Blaise Scinto) Posner of Arlington, Va.
Their grandchildren are Brooks, Beckett and Annabelle Napier and Elias and Eve Posner.
Mr. and Mrs. Posner each graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with bachelor’s degrees. Mr. Posner also received a J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is a partner in the law firm of Goldfarb, Posner, Beck, DeHaven & Drewitz in Washington. Mrs. Posner is a former assistant news editor of the Observer-Reporter, specializing in education, health care and fine arts. She later wrote for various newspapers and magazines and her work was translated into 10 foreign languages when she was a freelance writer for a publishing house in Stockholm, Sweden. Mrs. Posner also spent several years as a public relations consultant for school districts, nonprofit organizations and companies.
Both are members of Beth Israel Congregation in Washington, where they each served multiple terms as congregation president. Mrs. Posner was president of the national Education Writers Association, Washington Chapter of Hadassah, and the Andrew Carnegie Society of Carnegie Mellon University. She also served as a member of the Carnegie Mellon University Board of Directors along with the Carnegie Mellon Alumni Association Executive Board. Mrs. Posner was vice president of the East Washington Borough Council, Citizens Library Board of Directors and the Abernathy Black Community Development and Education Fund, where she served several years as scholarship chairman.
Mr. Posner is a past president of the Washington County Bar Association, was Court Administrator, Court of Common Pleas Washington County, and past president of the Pennsylvania Council of Trial Court Administrators. For the Borough of East Washington, he is chairman of the Planning Commission and was formerly chairman of its Zoning Hearing Board. Mr. Posner is past chairman of the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington. He is on the Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyer’s Trust Accounts Board and has served on a hearing committee of the Disciplinary Board of Pennsylvania. Both committees are appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Both enjoy traveling and have visited 30 countries.
