Brownsville Area Ministerial Association will host a vacation Bible school Aug. 7- 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hall (118 Church Street, Brownsville). Children who have completed third, fourth and fifth grades are welcome. Teens are welcome to be “helpers.” There will be Bible lessons, outdoor activities, music, snacks, arts and crafts. AFSCME Retirees Local 8402 will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, for the annual picnic at Napoli Restaurant in Washington.

The Bradford House Museum will host a hands-on history day camp Aug. 7-11. from 9 a.m. to noon daily. Participants will be immersed in 18th-century living through crafts, games, food, lessons and interaction with reenactors, who will provide living history experiences. Campers will be provided with period clothing to wear. The 2023 theme is “Defending the Frontier,” from the perspectives of the militiamen on the march and the women who protected their families and homes in the men’s absence. The program, created and presented by a team of experienced teachers who are now docents at the museum, is designed for students who have completed grades 3, 4 or 5. The Mon Valley Paws monthly meeting will be held on Aug. 8 at Italian Club, 112 Seventh St., Monessen, at 6 p.m. The general public is invited. Call 724-493-8305 for more information.

The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held on Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bethel Park municipal building, 5100 West Library Ave. All members and the general public are invited. This month’s program will be on America’s first medals. A 50/50 will be offered, and children’s prizes to be awarded. Applications are now being accepted for membership. A Specialty Sale will be held at Church of the Atonement,618 Washington Ave., Carnegie, Aug. 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring designer suits, dresses, skirts, size 4, 6, 8, 10; many are petite. The St. Vincent de Paul-sponsored food bank will be held on Aug. 16 at the St. Mary’s Social Hall (118 Church St., Brownsville) parking lot from 11 a.m. through noon. Volunteers will load The food directly into your car, and participants are asked to remain in their cars. Families must be registered with Fayette County Community Action Agency to receive food. Anyone who is not registered and lives in the Brownville Area must complete the required paperwork before receiving their food, and those who register on the day of the food bank are not guaranteed a box of food at the site and may have to travel to the food distribution warehouse in Republic. Families wishing to sign up on the distribution day must bring photo identification, the date of birth of each person in the household and address verification.

There will be a food bank at Pleasant View Presbyterian Church (533 Royal Road, Smock) on Aug. 19 at 10 a.m.  

An oldies dance will be sponsored by the CTVFC at the Carroll Township Social Center on August 19 from 7-10 p.m. DJ is Ralph Trilli. Beverages and food will be available for purchase. The Rostraver Sportsmen and Conservation Association, located at 539 Cedar Creek Road, Belle Vernon, will hold its monthly meeting on Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend. The Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church Ladies Philoptochos Society is having its annual Autumn Food Fair at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church’s community center, 123 Gilkeson Road, Mt.
