Morgan’s Army to collect blankets for locals in need

A Waynesburg woman will once again collect blankets for those in need throughout the area.
23-year-old Morgan Yoney has had multiple organ transplants due to her diagnosis of cystic fibrosis at a young age. She’s had two double lung transplants, a liver transplant and a kidney donated by her mother.
In an effort to give back to a community that supported her through her illness, Yoney and her supporters will be collecting blankets, starting Monday. Last year, over 2,000 blankets were collected and distributed to local patients in hospitals, nursing and personal care homes, homeless shelters and animal shelters.
This year’s drive runs through Nov. 30. Blankets must be new and unused, and can be dropped off at any Cornerstone Care location, as well as Tri-State Chiropractic in Waynesburg and Studio Raw in Pittsburgh.
“Even with our wide service area, everybody knows Morgan and has heard her story,” said Ramona Rush, pharmacy services coordinator for Cornerstone Care.
Cornerstone Care has seven offices throughout Fayette, Washington and Greene counties, as well as a mobile unit.
“Morgan’s mother is a former employee of Cornerstone Care and it just seems like the right thing to do,” Rush added.
