Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency will hold the first-ever screening of the International Fly Fishing Film Festival (IF4) at 6 p.m. Friday at Washington Elks Lodge 776. There will be silent auction and raffles offering an opportunity to win outdoor- and fishing-related items and trips. Food and beverage will be available for purchase. Youth for Christ/Campus Life in Washington will hold a kickoff celebration to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Fort Burd United Presbyterian Church, Route 166-200 Thornton Road, Brownsville, will hold a Faith and Film Night at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The film will be “Lilies of the Field” starring Sidney Poitier, who won an Academy Award for his performance. A discussion of how God works through us will follow this free event. Guardian Storage, 840 Jefferson Ave., Washington, will hold its annual Shred-It event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Individuals and local businesses can stop by to safely and securely dispose of unwanted documents free of charge. A limit of five boxes per person has been set, but Guardian will shred more during the last hour of the event if there is space remaining in the Shred-It truck. In lieu of a fee, Guardian asks those in attendance to provide a voluntary cash or in-kind school supplies donation to support the local nonprofit The Education Partnership.
The Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources Inc. will host a vendor and craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center at Monongahela Valley Hospital. The Association of Claysville Churches will hold a roast beef dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. April 21 in the social hall at Claysville United Methodist Church. Dinner will include roast beef, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, beans, pie and a cold or hot drink. A donation of $11 per dinner is requested, and takeouts are available. It is suggested that reservation tickets be purchased ahead of time from any of the association churches, or at Minteers Market in Claysville. The Association of Claysville Churches includes: Claysville Baptist Church, Claysville Christian Church, Claysville Methodist/Zion Church, Claysville Presbyterian Church and the Sacred Heart Worship Site of Immaculate Conception (Washington) Roman Catholic Parish. Proceeds from the dinner will go toward ACC-sponsored events in the Claysville area, such as Community Vacation Bible School, Sept. 11 Memorial services, a Community Thanksgiving Service, Lenten lunches and crosswalks, a baccalaureate service for McGuffey High School seniors and paper recycling.
Bentleyville Lions Club will hold its fourth annual Spring Basket Bash April 21 the Bentleyville Fire Department social hall. Doors open at noon to view the more than 100 baskets. Cost of $20 per ticket includes 25 basket tickets and a light lunch by Hog Father’s from 1 to 2:30 p.m., when basket winner will be pulled. Tickets must be purchased in advance at The Bentleyville Medicine Shoppe, from any Bentleyville Lion, at Dr. Stoupis’ office or by calling 724-258-3776. Winner must be present to win. The event will also include games of chance and a 50/50 raffle.
