Bird watchers and wildflower fans are preparing for the annual “Spring Fling” wildflower walking tour Sunday around State Game Land 302 in Richhill Township. The event starts with an 8 a.m. bird walk led by the Ralph K Bell Bird Club. Guided wildflower tours are ongoing from 10 a.m. into the afternoon. There is more than a mile of a township road now closed to all but emergency vehicles for people to stroll, plus side paths leading to wetlands that nesting waterfowl, butterflies and red winged blackbirds call home. Some of the flowers to look for are red trillium, larkspur, twinleaf, red, white and toad trillium, Dutchman’s breeches, squirrel corn, wild ginger and blue-eyed Mary.
