Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer an evening of music at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Cross Creek County Park, Shelter 3, at the County Park Road Launch Area in Avella. Musicians who play an instrument are welcome to share their talent at the Campfire Jam Night. Listeners are also welcome. Bring a chair or blanket. Light refreshments will be served. There is no fee, but registration is required by calling 724-228-6867.

A free community lunch will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Buffalo Road South, Hopewell Township (Washington County).

For landowners interested in preserving their farmland and applying for the Washington County Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Program, a public information workshop will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Washington County Conservation District, 50 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Washington. Light refreshments will be served. Prior registration is recommended by calling the Washington County Planning Commission at 724-228-6811. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 30.

The Mon Valley YMCA will host an AARP Driver Safety Refresher Course from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 22. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members (cash/check payment made to the instructor). Prerequisite: must have proof of attendance at the Beginner Course (copy can be obtained from your auto insurance company), proof of valid AARP member and driver’s license. The Mon Valley YMCA will hold a bus trip to Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh on Aug. 21. Pick up is at 9 a.m. at the Charleroi Chamber Plaza Parking lot. Depart Rivers Casino at 3 p.m. Cost of $25 per person includes bus bonus and $30 free play (must have valid driver’s license to receive the bus bonus). Limited seating is available (school bus).
