A Mexican restaurant, originally projected to open in Southpointe this summer, will land in early autumn.

Steel Cactus Mexican Restaurante and Cantina is targeted to open by Oct. 1 in Town Center, according to Mike Swisher, principal for Horizon Properties Group, the lead developer of Southpointe II. It is a Pittsburgh-based chain of Pittsburgh area restaurants with only one location outside Allegheny County – in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. The second “outsider” will be at Southpointe.

Steel Cactus will operate in space previously occupied by Saga Hibachi & Sushi. Boom Noodles, a “grab and go” business, will share that location.

AMPD Group runs the regional Mexican restaurant chain. Adam DeSimone is the co-founder and principal.
